]]>Administrative Professionals Day is Wed, Apr 26, 2023. It is a day dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the contributions of administrative professionals around the world. Celebrated annually on the Wednesday of the last full week of April, National Administrative Professionals Day is a time to recognize and thank secretaries, administrative assistants, and other office support staff for their hard work and dedication.
The Gallup State of the American Workplace Report puts it plainly, “Engaged employees produce better business outcomes than other employees — across industry, company size and nationality, and in good economic times and bad.” By showing them appreciation and gratitude for their efforts, we can further motivate them to continue producing optimal results.
We all understand the importance of having reliable administrative assistants as they are the ones that keep our businesses running like a well-oiled machine. They are the unsung heroes that make us look good and provide invaluable support to our teams. If you don't believe me, just remember back to that one time when one of them had to go to the dentist and suddenly everything came to a screeching halt!
Celebrating Administrative Professionals Day is a great way to show your appreciation for your support staff and make them feel valued. By taking the time to recognize their efforts, you can boost morale and create a positive work environment.
According to Harvard Business Review, employees that are happy and content in their job roles have been found to be up to 20% more productive than those who are not.
With that in mind, it's important to recognize the impact of employee appreciation gifts as they can be a simple yet powerful way to make your staff feel valued and boost their morale. Such gestures can lead to improved productivity, higher retention rates, and an overall better workplace environment.
From thank you gifts and recognition ideas, to creative activities and team building exercises, there are plenty of options available for making this day extra special for them. In this article, we will take a look at five ideas that can help you show appreciation for your admins on Administrative Professionals Day.
Showing appreciation to your admin team is an important way to boost morale and keep everyone motivated. It's not just about giving out bonuses or awards at the end of the year; it's about recognizing their efforts throughout the year.
Appreciation activities for admins should be tailored to their individual needs and interests, so that they can feel valued and appreciated for all that they do. From simple gestures like handwritten thank-you notes, to more elaborate activities like team-building events, there are plenty of ways to show your admin team members that you value their hard work and dedication.

]]>Hotel amenity gifts are a great way to create unique experiences for guests. They can be used to show appreciation for their loyalty, reward them for their patronage, and make them feel special. Thoughtful gift selection is key to making sure that the hotel gifts are well received and appreciated. With the right product selection, these thoughtful gifts can be used to create lasting memories and build relationships with customers.
It is important for hotels to understand the importance of hotel gifts in order to provide guests with a memorable experience that they will remember long after they have left the premises. Mehmet Erdem, an associate professor of hotel operations and technology at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas, said innovative and creative approaches could appeal to a new generation of travelers. “It can be one more amenity offered for the hotel room that adds to the competitive edge of a particular brand,” he said.
Small businesses are the backbone of local economies. When you source gifts from local businesses, you’re supporting those businesses and helping to keep the local economy thriving. By choosing locally-sourced products, you can ensure that your guests have access to unique and high-quality items that they can’t find at other less thoughtful brands. Not only does this help the local economy, but it also benefits the hotel by providing unique and memorable gifts for their guests.
Working with a diverse range of vendors and small businesses can be a great way to discover unique products. This can be especially important for businesses that may not have the resources to market themselves on a larger area. Additional gift benefits that are attractive to guests include reducing your carbon footprint and supporting an eco-friendly approach to hospitality.
Hotels that source gifts locally offer their guests a unique experience that goes beyond the traditional amenities. By connecting their guests to the local culture and community, hotels are able to provide a more meaningful stay for their guests. Not only do these gifts provide a tangible reminder of the guest's visit, but they also give them an opportunity to connect with and appreciate the local community.
When visitors travel to a new place, they often want to experience the local culture and community. Offering local gifts to your guests can help create that connection. By featuring products made by local artisans and businesses, you’re allowing guests to take a piece of the community home with them. This can help promote local tourism and encourage guests to return in the future.
The pandemic dealt the latest blow for many small businesses that are struggling to stay afloat. As a hotel, you can help support local small businesses by purchasing their products as gifts for your customers. Not only will this have a positive impact on the local economy, but it will also help build a stronger connection between your hotel and the community. Furthermore, supporting small businesses with your gift amenities can also improve customer relationships, boost customer loyalty and generate positive word-of-mouth for your brand.

Branded gifts are also a great way to leave a lasting impression on clients, as they will remember the thoughtful gesture long after they receive it. Investing in customized gifts for employees & clients can be an excellent marketing tool that will help you build strong relationships with both groups of people.

]]>Melted Melodies Candles are hand-poured, scented soy candles inspired by music and crafted with love by Delly Thomas. Melted Melodies is a woman- and Black-owned business established in 2021. Heather Ainsworth, Batch Director of Product and the former owner of Southern Firefly Candle Co., met Delly through Batch's partnership with Corner to Corner.
Heather says, “Connecting with Corner To Corner as a community partner has been a valuable resource to Batch. We love sharing our expertise earned by 10 years of partnering with small businesses. When we help a new product come to market, we help introduce them to a wealth of opportunities. Delly’s multi-sensory approach with Melted Melodies Candles opens up endless possibilities. Not only could the QR Code be customized to link to a song or a message from a speaker at a corporate event, these candles could be used to boost a company's product launch or help an artist release a new single.”
Working with Heather gave Delly the confidence in her candles and business model, “As a new business owner, I was a bit nervous, not having it all together. When I met Heather in person, she was so transparent and personable. She made me comfortable and she spoke to me with respect and appreciated my brand. I felt more confident in my business and thrilled to be in a relationship with Batch. I could not be happier to have met one of my goals to be a wholesale vendor.”
Make sure you follow @meltedmelodiesllc for her latest product launches and updates.
Read on to find out the inspiration behind Melted Melodies, the hardest part of running a small business, and Delly's favorite gift she's given.
What is Melted Melodies and how long has it been around?
Melted Melodies Candle Co. creates musically-inspired, scented soy candles that are designed to help you enjoy a multi-sensory experience.
What scents inspire you and why?
I love scents that remind me of things. Magnolia Blossom reminds me of New Orleans, where I am from…while Clean Linen always makes me feel like I did a good job cleaning.
What made you decide to start this business?
After receiving a candle for Christmas, I enjoyed it so much, I wanted more. With COVID around, I had time to figure it out and I did. Melted Melodies Candle Co was established in July 2021
How did you get connected to Corner to Corner?
I saw someone that I followed on Instagram post about their brand and how Corner to Corner helped them grow their business.
What comes first - the scent or the music?
The scent! I love smelling sample scents and deciding what song it reminds me of. But, sometimes it can go the other way around after hearing a song.
What do you like to do when you are not making candles?
I am visiting family in New Orleans or trying to grow vegetables in my garden, lol!
What is the hardest part of making candles and running your small business?
Working alone. I don’t have a business partner to bounce ideas off of or help make business decisions. My family will help me make candles when they can and sometimes even travel to Nashville to help me with vendor events.
Because we are a gift company, we always love to hear about your favorite gift - one you have given or received.
My favorite gift that I’ve given was to my sisters and mom. For Christmas I gave them all a clean linen scented candle with two pictures of them with their families on the label and named it “We Are Family” Nobody wanted to burn their candle!
Anything you would like to add to give folks a better idea of what to expect when they light a Melted Melodies candle?
When you get a Melted Melodies Candle, scan the QR code on the label, to hear the song on your phone. Then, light your candle and relax in a bubble bath, sing like no one can hear you, or dance like nobody’s watching!

Here are five of our favorite mocktail recipes so you can offer tasty non-alcoholic drinks to event guests and clients.
While it sometimes looks like you need a college degree to make a cocktail/mocktail, the best things are often the simplest.
To make a Rose Lemonade Mocktail, you simply need to add non-alcoholic rosé and lemonade to a glass – or punch bowl! – in equal parts. Make it look stylish with your garnish of choice. We love a couple of lemon slices held up against the sides of the glass by a generous helping of ice.
If you’re hosting a January event, our For Women By Women Gift Set includes a beautiful non-alcoholic rosé drink. This makes a thoughtful corporate gift for Dry January that will help your event attendees make this mocktail at home!
Why not just have a cup of coffee? When you taste this, you’ll know! Espresso martinis are having their moment in the spotlight and you don’t have to miss out if you’re choosing not to drink.
All you need is whole-bean coffee for the espresso, heavy whipping cream, simple syrup, vanilla extract, cocoa powder, and a touch of salt.
Dip the rim of your glasses into your syrup and then the cocoa powder to rim your glass. Then add ice and all the other ingredients into a cocktail maker. Shake for around a minute until the top is frothy, and voila! Top with coffee beans or more cocoa powder for added authenticity.
Want to gift the experience? Send our Sweet Gratitude gift set as a Dry January client gift and ask us to include the recipe tip on the gift card!
If you want to produce a mocktail that combines fun and sophistication, we have you covered with this drink.
The ingredients you’ll need for this are: non-alcoholic champagne, ginger ale, cranberry-apple juice, sugar, cinnamon, and lime.
To make this champagne mocktail, first, you need to mix three tablespoons of sugar with half a teaspoon of cinnamon on a small plate. Then, cut a lime in half, and cut a small wedge to rim your glass. Next, add ice to your glass, followed by the alcohol-free champagne and cran-apple juice. Finish by squeezing the remainder of your lime into the glass and topping with ginger ale. Refreshing, sharp, and not a drop of alcohol in sight!
If you're having a late holiday celebration with your team or clients but embracing Dry January, our Holiday Cheer gift set includes a beautiful non-alcoholic Brut that you can use to make this non-alcoholic cocktail.
A Margarita is a popular cocktail or welcome drink at various events. This one is so good that you could serve it without people realizing it's alcohol-free!
You’ll need kosher salt, simple syrup, lime juice, lemon juice, orange juice, and lime cut into wedges or wheels for your garnish.
First, put the kosher salt onto a small plate. Rim the glass with a lime wedge and run it through the salt. Next, half-fill a cocktail mixer with ice and add 4oz of simple syrup, 2 oz of lime juice, and 1 oz each of lemon and orange juice. Shake for around 15 seconds, and immediately pour into the glass. Add a lime wedge or wheel to the rim to finish.
Another refreshing favorite, but it might be harder to hide that this one is alcohol-free!
To make a Virgin Mojito, you’ll need 15 mint leaves, fresh lime juice, simple syrup, club soda, and lime.
Add the mint leaves, 1 oz of lime juice, and ½ oz of simple syrup to your glass. Muddle this mixture with a muddler or wooden spoon until nicely mixed. Add as much ice as you want, top up with club soda and finish with a lime garnish if you wish.
Enjoy!

Return on Gifting (ROG) is a tangible metric that you can measure in many ways:
There is a wealth of data that shows the ROG:
If you're ready to try corporate gifting to engage employees and leadership but need help figuring out where to start, Batch has a few ideas to help you get started!
Pinpoint the optimal time in your sales funnel to send a gift to leads in considering your proposal. You could even send your brochure or proposals included in your custom gift set! Make your in-person meeting or pitch memorable by bringing a gift with you.
Depending on your industry standard and usual client retention rate, hitting the 12-month mark with a client might be cause for celebration in more ways than one!
Marking the occasion with a client gift is an easy relationship management win. You might even decide to send a gift after three or six months instead.
Trust us, receiving a Batch custom gift is an uplifting change from more reports and invoices!
If you’ve been working with your client on a specific project or towards a particular goal, celebrate when you get it done or hit your target.
We know you’ve already set your sights on the next milestone, but you and your client are allowed a little time to reflect on your achievements and sending a custom corporate gift shows your appreciation.
What is the best way to show your clients you care? There's arguably nothing better than sending them a corporate gift congratulating them for something outside your relationship.
Say they announce they’ve smashed their revenue targets, are launching a new product of service, or are establishing themselves in a new market. Send them a congratulatory gift to show that you care about their business health.
This approach is excellent for relationship building as it takes things beyond a purely transactional nature and more towards a partnership.
What better way to show your new hires they made the right choice than with a gift during their first few days working with you?

While many companies recognize longer term work anniversaries, regularly celebrating your employees time and dedication helps with employee retention and team morale.
Our curated gift sets allow you to show your employees your appreciation yearly instead of waiting for arbitrary milestones.
A great way to enhance employee engagement is to take an interest in their lives outside work.
So whether it's their birthday or wedding anniversary, or they've moved house or welcomed a baby, send a gift to show them you're thinking of them and invested in their well-being beyond the workplace.
Celebrating your organization’s milestones is always more fun when done together.
Marking the company's birthday is an excellent opportunity to reflect on your achievements. This is especially true if you're a relatively young company and many of your team have been growing with you since day one.
Whether it’s an in office team day or a Zoom quiz to bring together your remote workers from every corner of the country, there’s a Batch gift set for the occasion!
You have many opportunities to show your employees appreciation throughout the year. But, sometimes the most appreciated gift will be the one received out of the blue, just because you wanted to say thank you.
Whether you keep it random or send a gift when someone needs a pick-me-up, you don't need to wait for your "designated gifting window" to get something shipped!
If you want to make sure your clients or employees receive incredible gifts throughout the year, you need our gifting program!

]]>In recent posts, we’ve looked at how custom corporate gifts can, among other things:
Additionally, we know what shows that strategic gifting really makes a difference— hearing firsthand from people who've bought Batch gifts, experienced the Return on Gifting (ROG), and witnessed the impact gifting can have on those who receive them.
Here are four stories from Batch customers who used custom employee gifts to show recognition to healthcare industry workers.
Following an intense and competitive recruitment process, HCA Healthcare's TriStar Division in Brentwood wanted to ensure it welcomed successful candidates and onboarded them as effectively as possible.
HCA Healthcare reached out to our corporate gift consultants to discuss their needs. We explained how Batch could pull together custom gift sets and send them to recruits early in their employment. All we needed from HCA Healthcare was the employee’s name and any special requirements, and we were able to send a seasonal custom gift set as soon as we got the word.
We now send custom employee gifts to every new healthcare worker in HCA’s TriStar division.
Chris Mainord, HCA Healthcare’s TriStar Division Coordinator, sent us this feedback:
“Good afternoon, I hope you are doing great!! I just wanted to let you know that I have received major feedback on all of our Batch’s recently. Our physicians have raved about the items that they have received, which you put together. I wanted to tell you how much I appreciate your eye for putting together specialized welcome gifts for our docs. It is just one more reminder on why we love partnering with Batch.”
Nashville Health Care Council was planning a local healthcare event. In addition to running a successful event for attendees, the Council wanted to show appreciation to those who participated.
Nashville Health Care Council got in touch with our corporate gift consultants but was worried we might not be able to meet their needs with a quicker turnaround needed. Here at Batch, we love a challenge and were excited to bring together everything the Council required to help support a successful and memorable event.
Mission accomplished!
Nancy Colyar, Executive Assistant at Nashville Health Care Council, got in touch to tell us:
“I appreciate you accommodating my last minute order. I have already heard from several people whom I had sent a gift to. They are very familiar with your products and were thrilled to receive these items.”
We loved that the recipients receiving products they already knew made them even more excited to receive their custom Batch gifts!
Jill Cornell, Productions & Process Controls Director at GE Healthcare, wanted to show her appreciation to the women she works with. Like ourselves, Jill was passionate about local products and supporting women makers. We were the perfect Batch…and match!
Fully understanding Jill's needs, our gift consultants worked on creating a custom gift set filled with products from women makers that we just knew her colleagues would love. With that done, we quickly ensured they reached their intended destination.
After sending Jill’s custom gifts, she told us:
“They look beautiful! Thanks so much for making this so easy. It feels great to support local businesses and recognize some amazing women I work with!”
HCA Healthcare's Human Resources Group, based here in Nashville, wanted to recognize the work done by dozens of employees across the organization. But given how many custom gifts were required ahead of an event, Mary Daugherty, L&OD Coordinator at HCA, worried about how she could ensure everyone she wanted to send a gift to would receive one.
After speaking to our gift consultants, Mary was assured that Batch could meet her gifting needs and that all we needed to know was what she wanted, and she could get on with focusing on her own priorities. We then got to work putting together all the custom gift boxes filled with incredible products to be sent to Mary’s colleagues and made sure they were going to get to where they needed to go when they needed to get there.
After receiving positive feedback from colleagues who had received gifts, Mary got in touch to tell us:
“I just wanted to give you and your team a huge virtual “Thank You!” and hug! We are starting to receive some many happy emails in thanks of our programming and gifts and we definitely couldn’t have done it without you all! I’m imagining myself stuffing 75 boxes, labeling them, and taking them in loads to FedEx…it is stressful. So thank you all for helping relieve some of the stress that comes with producing an event.
I appreciate you all and look forward to working together in the near future!”

]]>A Think Impact study updated for 2022 threw out some striking numbers about client retention.
What do these numbers mean? That you shouldn’t wait for your CRM system to send you a notification that it’s “time for a check in” to show your clients appreciation!
Because the “thank you for your continued business” note on your invoices can feel impersonal and be overlooked, we suggest sending a gift with a 100% open rate.
Even if you sent your clients gift boxes for Thanksgiving or the holidays, it’s worth sending them another one at the start of the year when all of the holiday hubbub is settled down.
While those gift boxes were a great way to show your customers appreciation, the new year is when you get your clients excited about the opportunities in the next 12 months. It's the ideal opportunity to strengthen vital relationships and get early momentum behind your New Year’s objectives. An added bonus? You can get your client gift boxes delivered in January to be top of mind for everyone’s first day back in the office!
When you send a gift box with Batch, we’ll include a personalized branded card wishing your clients Happy New Year and a message of your choice.
Use your card to:
As well as the personalized card, we can brand your entire gift set if you want! You can add a branded sleeve, wrapping, and ribbon for an extra professional touch and give your clients a New Year’s gift set to remember.
And if you want to go further, we can include things like branded stationary and other products. Just get in touch with our gift consultants to discuss your needs!
Our Grateful Reflections Gift Set is the perfect way to show your appreciation to your clients while firing them up for the year ahead.
It has something for everyone, too, including a Thistle Farms Gratitude Candle, a Questions to Empower Deck of cards, and Mal Paper’s A Day of Gratitude Journal.
Boost your clients’ ability to reflect, relax, and empower themselves with a set that will remind them of your appreciation and gratitude for months!
We love positivity, and we know you do, too!
But the reality is that even the most optimistic of us can find January a bit of a drag. Luckily we have a gift set built to remedy the January blues!
Sending your clients The Great Escape will show them just how much you care, whether they’re relaxing in a hot bath, using the Thistle Farms Lip Smoothie to ward off the winter cold, or heading off to dreamland in the Dream Wink Sleep Mask.
It is a gift to lift anyone's spirits and prepare them for an exciting year ahead!
Who says the celebrations must stop in the early hours of January 1st?
We certainly don’t!
The Time to Celebrate Gift Set is excellent for gifting to your client to celebrate your shared success and look forward to another productive year. We can even swap the non-alcoholic wine for alcohol, depending on your and your clients' preferences!
With glitter bombs, sparklers, and an After Dinner Trivia Game, this set has everything it needs to create a memorable celebration. And we’re not going to look for an excuse to have a party in January!
Our year-round gifting program helps you do just that!
Why stop at a New Year gift when you can send your clients a gift four times a year? Learn more about our gifting program on page five of our Corporate Gifting Lookbook, and contact our gift consultants when you're ready to supercharge your client appreciation strategy.
Happy New Year!
]]>According to the Giving Tuesday Data Commons, 35 million people participated in Giving Tuesday initiatives in 2021. Meanwhile, Whole Whale predicts that $3.2 billion will be raised on Giving Tuesday 2022, an 18% increase from last year’s figure.
While many people choose to donate directly to charities on Giving Tuesday, there are many other ways to embrace the spirit of the day.
One option is to shop with social enterprises and other businesses that give back to or support their communities. Depending on your shopping priorities, you might have been consciously doing this for years. If you don't already do this, then there's no better time to start!
The Social Enterprise Alliance defines social enterprises as “Organizations that address a basic unmet need or solve a social or environmental problem through a market-driven approach."
While the Annie E. Casey Foundation describes them as “revenue generating businesses with a mission.”
You might be asking is every business that gives back to its community, a social enterprise? While some companies might self-identify this way, that doesn't make them social enterprises. For example, a Fortune 500 company may have a social responsibility program or be committed to donating to the communities where they operate. Still, this business would not be classified as a social enterprise purely because their primary mission isn't the social enterprise element.
If you’re looking to give a gift to work colleagues or loved ones that give back this Giving Tuesday, our Make An Impact – Gifts That Give Back gift set checks all of the boxes.
All of the products in this gift set come from social enterprises, with four of the five businesses also women-owned, another under-represented demographic that we love to support!
Here’s what in the meaningful gift set and a little about the makers’ behind the gifts.
When you buy a Nashville Blanket Project blanket, you help to spread warmth throughout Tennessee.! That’s because this social enterprise donates a blanket to a shelter or person in need for every blanket sold.
What’s more, these cozy blankets are responsibly made from reclaimed fibers, so they also give back to the environment. There’s even a cool bag to store or carry this blanket around in!
Thistle Farms provides female survivors of trafficking, prostitution, and addiction a place to rebuild their lives. Every morning, Thistle Farms lights a candle as a symbol of sanctuary and hope for the next woman who arrives seeking help.
While you can buy many Thistle Farms products from Batch, this gift set features Thistle Farms’ “Hope” Celebration Candle, scented with soothing lavender and crisp lemon to create the essence of a new dawn.
BrightStone provides work and social support for adults with developmental disabilities. This empowering group focuses on harnessing the abilities, talents, and skills of the adults it works with to help them develop and realize their potential.
Included in this gift set is Brightstone’s delicious all-in-one blondie mix , ideal for those evenings when you want something sweet but don’t want to head to the store!
S’well’s mission is for as many people as possible to own one of its reusable water bottles or bowls. Why? First, every product sold means fewer plastic bottles sold, used, and discarded. Second, S’well takes the money from its profits and pledges the cash to non-profits worldwide.
Our Make an Impact gift set includes a stylish water bottle to help the lucky recipient reduce their plastic footprint. If you're buying one for everyone in the office, remember to include a reminder to start bringing this reusable bottle for the water cooler!
Blue Monarch’s mission is to provide a long-term residential community to women recovering from abuse, addiction, economic hardship, or mental health issues.
With this Batch gift set each recipient will get a bag of Out of the Blue granola made on-site by the women in the program. Every pack of granola includes a photograph of one of the women in the Blue Monarch program and her recovery story.

Read on to discover five of our favorite holiday movies – and learn which of our gift sets is perfect for movie night.
Eight Crazy Nights centers around Jewish characters during the eight days and nights of Hannukah – hence the title.
Davey, a 33-year-old down on his luck, finds himself with an ultimatum: spend Hannukah doing community service as a referee at the youth basketball league, or go to jail. Davey, voiced by Adam Sandler, thinks that basketball will be an easy ride until he meets the head referee Whitey, also voiced by Sandler. Davey's troublemaking ways and Whitey's infectious optimism quickly clash, and holiday chaos ensues.
If you've ever experienced the pain of a breakup close to the holidays, then The Holiday is a movie that will make you both reflect and look forward with positivity, while laughing and crying at the same thing!
The all-star cast led by Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, and Jack Black tells a poignant story of wanting to get away from it all during the holidays after a breakup. A house swap arrangement sees the two leading ladies swap LA for London, where they both find way more than they were looking for when they decided they wanted to leave their lives behind for a little while.
The Polar Express is an iconic holiday movie with a wholesome and heart-warming message for youngsters and adults alike. On Christmas Eve, a young boy sees a train headed to The North Pole and is invited along for the ride by its conductor voiced by Tom Hanks.
If you've never seen it, we won't spoil the ending for you, except to say that anything is possible and life is always magical if you keep an open mind and continue to believe.
Have you ever met anyone who doesn’t love Home Alone? We’re not sure we have either!
Often cited as the greatest Christmas movie of all time, its billing as "a family movie without the family" is perhaps one of the funniest taglines ever.
Whether you watched Home Alone in 1990 when it was first released or discovered it later, we all have a favorite scene or quote from this movie starring Macaulay Culkin that we can drop to instantly transport ourselves back to how we felt the first time we saw it.
There are now six movies in the Home Alone franchise, but we’re watching the original every time.
Holiday movies typically don't do very well at the Academy Awards, so the fact that 1947's Miracle on 34th Street won three of them indicates how great this movie is.
The 1947 movie, while set between Thanksgiving and Christmas, was actually released in the summer because the studio head argued more people went to the movies when it was warm! Nonetheless, it performed brilliantly and stands the test of time as a holiday movie favorite.
The 1994 reimagining, which did have its release in the run-up to Christmas, is a fun festive watch, too.
Now that you've got your holiday movie watch list in place, you just need treats to go with it! Fortunately, our Blockbuster Moments set is the ideal accompaniment to a quiet night in with a holiday movie.
This gift set for movie lovers is packed full of tasty treats, including flavored popcorn and a maker for movie lovers. There's also a decadent chocolate bar, along with two gifts that the lucky recipient can use again and again: popcorn socks and the brilliant "Eat What You Watch" cookbook. A ton of popcorn, a fantastic chocolate bar, and the recipe for the Big Kahuna burger from Pulp Fiction, the crème brûlée from Amélie, and much more! What’s not to love in this gift set?
If we missed your favorite "must watch" holiday movie from our list, or you want to tell us what you think of Die Hard, we’re all ears on our social channels! Connect with us on Instagram here.
Happy Holidays ya filthy animals!
]]>While recent research has highlighted that holiday gifts can positively impact nearly 50% of employees through December, why not enjoy those benefits all year round?
There are many reasons why you should have a year-round gifting program—just ask your team if they would want more recognition and appreciation. We have six reasons to highlight that the "return on gifting" is well worth it.
The research we highlighted earlier, which was conducted by Tremendous, found that 75% of employees said gifts boosted their job satisfaction.
On top of that, 74% of employees reported a morale boost lasting at least three months. But, of course, with a year-round gifting program, you're sending gifts every quarter, so you get that boost four times a year!
Gifts make people happy.
It feels like there's a new debate on LinkedIn about the rights and wrongs of keeping employees engaged every day. With that in mind, gifting is an excellent way to show appreciation beyond paychecks. Your employees will reward you by being more engaged and productive, too.
A late 2019 study from Oxford University found that happy employees are 13% more productive than unhappy team members. What would everyone in your team being 13% more productive do for your business’s bottom line?
A 2021 study from Snappy found that gifting could significantly increase employee retention rates. The study found that 59% of people were more likely to stay at their job if they received a holiday gift.
Given that the holidays are a time when people might expect to receive a gift, there’s enormous potential for you to benefit even more by sending gifts throughout the rest of the year.
And, that’s without even considering the savings you’ll make from having to go through the recruitment and onboarding processes more frequently.
LEARN MORE: How to Welcome New Employees with Better Branded Gifts
You’re considering having a year-round gifting program because you want to show your employees how much you value them and boost their job satisfaction.
But there are a ton of benefits that you'll enjoy from a business perspective, too.
Not least is the boost to your brand reputation. Imagine the benefit to recruiting your company will see when your team members post about their incredible gift sets and feeling valued at work four times a year!
On top of that, you'll have an easier time getting your employees to record testimonial videos and do other things to highlight how great it is to work for you. And why not add your gifting program to the list of benefits on your job ads when hiring? It's a competitive recruitment market out there, and thoughtful things like a gifting program could make a difference in the quality of candidates you can attract.
As business leaders, we can always do more to strengthen our internal culture and togetherness as a team.
Utilizing a gifting program is a simple way to get a win in this regard. If your team members know gifts are coming, they’ll have great fun discussing their favorite products from previous seasonal gifts and anticipating what might be coming in the next one. Having these conversations will help people get to know each other and could also help aid the integration of new team members.
You can double the sense of fun and anticipation if you also take advantage of the next benefit!
At different times of the year, you might have seasonal catalogs and brochures, lookbooks, and other assets you share with your team to inspire and motivate them for the upcoming period.
Likewise, you might have something like an annual stationary refresh, too.
You can tie all this in with your gifting! For example, your fall and winter gifts could include information about sales plans for the holidays or the following year. Likewise, your spring and summer gifts can celebrate successes and your team's performance as individuals and collectively.
If you have regular social events, you could even include the invites in your year-round gifts!
Our year-round gifting program is designed to help you enjoy all these benefits and many more.
Instead of coming to Batch to buy individual gift packages as and when you need to, our year-round gifting program helps you to take care of everything and plan ahead. So whether you want to send all team members a gift every few months or tailor gifts to birthdays, work anniversaries, or other memorable dates and occasions, we've got you covered.
In addition to sending our incredible curated gifts, we can add your brand to the gift packaging and include branded products in what you send. Company swag isn't necessarily appropriate as the central focus of a gift, but there's no reason you can't send it alongside tasty treats and all the other amazing stuff that comes in our gifts.

]]>You probably don't need to improve your recruitment processes, but rather improve your employee engagement and turnover. With that type of investment, it is crucial to make employees feel part of the team during the onboarding process.
One vital aspect of employee engagement is letting them know they can make a difference from day one.
First impressions count.
Most of us would agree, yet Gallup found that only 12% of employees thought their company did a great job onboarding them.
Why do employees think this?
According to Sapling research and HCI data, 58% of companies said their onboarding program focused on processes and paperwork, which probably says a lot about the low satisfaction rate! On top of this, Sapling also found that the average new hire will complete over 50 activities during their onboarding process.
By any measure, that’s a lot to take in. Starting a new job can be daunting enough as it is!
Additionally research suggests that a great onboarding process can improve productivity by over 70% and retention by 82%! How much time and money would you save if 4 out of 5 employees stayed with your company?
Granted, you'll always have procedural stuff to cover during onboarding. But, you don’t want your new hire to be one of the 20% who wouldn’t recommend their new employer to friends or family members.
So, while we won't tell you how to change the "must-do" stuff (leave that to Toby in HR), we can explain why you should consider welcoming your new employees with branded gifts.
While a new work laptop, cell phone, and maybe even a company car are nice perks, they come with the job.
Gifts go above and beyond your new hire's expectations and immediately strengthens their belief they've made a great decision in coming to work for you. It shows you care about them as an employee and person from day one and that your internal culture is about way more than dollars and cents.
It’s up to you.
One great idea is to create a branded gift set that really makes your new hire feel part of the team from day one.
For example, here at Batch, we can:
Already have some branded items you want to include? Perfect! You can send them to us to include in your package. We help you give your new hires everything they need for the new role on top of some extra treats to make them feel even more excited! If you have remote employees we can even send their gift directly to them.
You may decide you want to make new hire gifts even more personal. It's common for businesses to interact with new hires while they're finishing up with their current employer. So get your HR team or hiring manager to slip in a questionnaire about their hobbies and favorite foods when sending other information back and forth.
From there you can speak to one of our Batch corporate gift consultants. We'll build you a tailored gift box with personal favorites alongside branded gifts for a personalized gift for each new hire.
On top of the tangible positive improvements in engagement and retention rates, you'll unlock some additional benefits when you welcome your new hires with a corporate gift.
Discovering which colleagues are fellow vegans or share a love for flashy socks can be a much better day-one experience than standing up and introducing yourself in front of everyone.
A welcome gift creates an instant talking point, brings a sense of fun into the workplace, and immediately starts to break down barriers and build social connections.
You might say this was cynical if there wasn’t a ton of research backing up the reasons for improving your onboarding process, but it’s potentially a massive opportunity.
How often do you go on LinkedIn and see people posting about their new jobs? Now imagine your new hire doing that with a picture of their welcome gift. Then imagine talented people in their network seeing that and checking out your job vacancies. You can already see the return of employee gifting decreasing the cost of hiring future staff.
Corporate gifting is a year-round priority for businesses that do everything they can to keep their employees engaged and feeling appreciated.
You will never have a better chance to have an impact than on a new hire’s first day.
Check out our range of gift sets, or get in touch to discuss what your ideal welcome gift looks like.]]>If the answer is "yes," that's amazing! If the answer is no, read on to discover why you should - and why it’s a good idea during the rest of the year, too.
Sending gifts to team members during the holidays is a fantastic opportunity to thank your employees for their efforts during the year. A 2021 study even found that doing so could significantly boost employee retention rates.
But, you don't always need to wait until the festive season.
Whenever you like!
Obviously, the holidays are a traditional time to send such a gift, but you could also send customized gifts to your employees to mark:
Or why not send a gift to someone on your team just because? We're all dealing with things in our lives outside of our job, and you never know the positive difference a small gesture could make. There are few things better than random acts of kindness!
You don’t have to be an avid LinkedIn user to know that work environments across the United States (and worldwide) are continuing to rapidly evolve.
A typical example is working from home (WFH), which is pretty much established as the "new normal" for so many of us. While WFH has its benefits, it isn't without its challenges. Staying home can be great, but what is reducing co-worker interactions to Zoom and Slack doing to employee morale beneath the surface? According to an Optimal Networks study into “Zoom fatigue,” discussed in this article by the company’s CEO, the effect is that:
In addition, we're also hearing more about the phenomenon of "quiet quitting," People do their job but consciously don't go above and beyond what’s expected of them. Gallup research found this is true of at least half the country’s workforce.
Here are a handful of reasons why making gifting part of your internal culture will help you cultivate a more motivated and engaged workforce.
Having unique ideas for boosting employee morale and putting a smile on people's faces is one thing, but it can be quite another getting the spend past your CFO.
But even that doesn't have to be complicated.
While it can be tempting to look at gifting as “yet another business expense,” corporate gifting doesn’t have to be expensive. You could send a couple of gifts a year to every individual in a small team and stay within a modest budget..
And the reality is that whatever you spend, the rest of the benefits you'll enjoy, which we’ll look at now, means your gifting quickly pays for itself anyway.
Sending customized gifts to your employees is a meaningful way to strengthen interpersonal relationships and your internal support network.
When people get along with each other, have shared experiences, a sense of community, and feel appreciated, collaboration improves. In turn, this enhances efficiency and productivity, making your business more successful.
Even if you have a strong workplace culture where people feel valued and appreciated, you can never thank people too much, right?
You never want your sending of corporate gifts to feel routine or mundane.
Still, when people know nice things are coming, they’ll perform more consistently because they're confident there will be a reward at the end of the hard work. In his book The Truth About Employee Engagement, team management expert and Table Group CEO Patrick Lencioni explains this as making employees feeling like they matter. In turn, you’re rewarded with consistent peformance, rather than seeing a drop in output becuase you didn’t recognize success. Over time, as you get creative with your corporate gifting, your team members will look forward to seeing what you’re going to come up with as a gift idea next time!
Employee engagement goes way beyond things like consistent performance and productivity. Boosting employee engagement means you'll reap the rewards of reducing apathy and absenteeism, common factors in quiet quitting. You'll also save a fortune on hiring and training costs because you'll retain team members for longer.
Happy teams strongly correlate with thriving businesses - in 2019 the UK’s Oxford University found that happy workers are 13% more productive so why not reap the benefits of being able to enhance employee engagement?
There's a ton of research, including this Harvard Business Review analysis of a 2019 Glassdoor study, that highlights the benefits happy and engaged employees can have on people and metrics "downstream" from those who feel the direct benefit of your gifting.
For example, happier and more engaged employees will deliver better service to your customers or clients. How they address people on the phone or in emails can improve and enhance those relationships.
Oh, and this will all lead to higher revenues and profits, too. With the return on gifting (ROG), you can increase your corporate gifting budget next year and supercharge your workplace culture, engagement and growth even more!
With new ways of working becoming standard, like hybrid arrangements and WFH, many of us still spend more time with our colleagues than with friends and family. And given how we interact with each other is constantly changing, it's more important than ever that we prioritize work relationships and invest in things that show our teams that we care.
Sending gifts with a handwritten “thank you” or words of encouragement is a thoughtful way to show your team members you’re thinking about them and are determined to make their experience of work as positive as possible.

Don't worry! Ordering your holiday gifts before October 31 doesn't mean the lucky recipients will get them before the holiday season..
By placing your corporate gift order by October 31, we will guarantee priority arrival between December 1 and December 9. That gives you plenty of time to send us items that you want to include with your holiday gift boxes, too. More on that shortly!
Oh, and did we mention domestic shipping is free?
All the above applies if you're one of our international customers, but shipping costs will be based on our published rates and your location. Please speak to one of our gift consultants or proceed to our checkout with your gift selections to get your shipping costs.
With branded packaging tape, your corporate gift recipients feel the personal touch as soon as they open the box.
When you order before October 31, we'll work with you to design custom exterior packaging tape featuring your branding at no additional cost, helping your gifts look like they've been hand packed and wrapped right there in your office!
In addition to the custom packaging tape, we'll wrap your gift in gift ribbon based on your brand colors if you wish. Our standard seasonal gift ribbon looks fantastic too, so if you'd prefer us to use that for your holiday gifts, just let us know.
For even more personalization before your gift recipients open the box, we'll add your full-color logo decal to the outside of your gift box at no additional cost.. Get in touch with one of our gift consultants to review your options.
Depending on the gift box you’re sending, or if you want to keep things simple, you can opt for a hand-stamped black logo instead of the full-color option.
Your holiday gifts, your brand, your decision!
Have something else you want to add? We can help with that too! Because we handpack each gift, we can add your items during the packing process.
If you have branded coffee flasks, notepads, certificates, or anything else you want to include with your holiday gifts, send them to us. We'll include them in your customized gift boxes at no cost to take your personalization even further.
What better way to ensure your clients or leads get a copy of your 2023 catalog in their hands by sending it with a gift they’re guaranteed to open and love?!
We can custom brand small business products including coffee bag labels, chocolates, and cookies with your logo.
Subject to order minimums, you can now add alcoholic beverages to your gift boxes. You have to pay for the alcohol itself, but because you're ordering before October 31, there won't be an additional cost to include it with your package.
If you want to include an alcoholic gift but aren’t sure where to start, speak to one of our gift consultants about your options. We also have a range of alcohol-free drinks that come in gift boxes or that can be added as a personal touch, helping you tailor every gift that gets delivered with your logo is the perfect fit for the lucky recipient.

]]>Corporate gifting can be a variety of things. It can be a physical gift or an experience like tickets to a show. There are endless possibilities! More importantly, it should not be limited to the holiday season. Corporate gifts can also help celebrate a new team member, client, or partner who recently came on board. Recognize their immediate value and it will encourage them to remain loyal.
Some 57% of gift recipients say that corporate gifts can affect their perception of a business both positively or negatively. We’ve rounded up five reasons giving is important.
This goes a long way when comparing the cost of acquiring a new customer. It’s worth noting that 80% of future profits come from 20% of a company’s existing customers. Strive to make your clients content and happy, simple as that.
This study shows a strong link between employee well-being and customer satisfaction. Invest in employees first and not only on birthdays. The more they feel valued at work can increase motivation and have a positive impact on your customers. This impact can be stronger for those industries related to retail, tourism, and hospitality where they are customer-facing.
Are you trying to convince a client to come on board? Show them what you are made of by sending a personalized gift! The goal is to make it a memorable experience. By sharing a gift, you can potentially influence their decision-making.
All businesses have a choice in who they decide to work with. Often, we may not even see these suppliers if they are not in the same region. If you want to ensure they are a partner for the long haul, then consider showing your appreciation. Keep in mind their culture and holidays when gifting.
We’ve all seen the endless postcards, spammy emails, or even received cold calls. If you’re looking for a unique way to attract a new client, consider sending a beautiful gift that they will surely open. This is a great way to stand out from the crowd. Also, don’t limit it to something purely tangible. A physical gift can include e-gifts that might relate to cool content or referral awards for recommending your product.
At Batch, we can customize any of our gift sets. Whether you are looking for something small or large, we are here to help you with your corporate gifting strategy. ]]>When we started Batch as a subscription box company in the fall of 2013, little did we know (and, by little, close to zero knowledge) that 10 years later most of our orders would be corporate gifts. As a result of this huge growth for our small business, we have hired a lot of folks to focus on corporate gifts and, more importantly, corporate clients. We are so happy to introduce Bri Nightingale, our client success manager, to our customers and small business family. She will be assisting our corporate clients to ensure the gifts that are shipped out match the orders they placed.
In our Meet the Team Series, Bri answers a few questions so that you can get to know who she is, why she is excited about working at Batch, and what small business made gifts she is already loving.
As the Client Success Manager, I will be the customer’s main contact from the moment they obtain their invoice through the point of receiving their tracking information. I will mostly be working with our corporate gift clients, ensuring that we clearly communicate all of the details and keep them coming back for more.
I am originally from the northwest Chicago suburbs (go Cubbies!), and I’ve been in the greater Nashville area since April of 2008.
I’m one of the lucky ones! I first learned about Batch in 2015 when I began working at The Picnic Tap in the Nashville Farmers’ Market. I frequented Batch’s retail store and I was eager to take every one of my out-of-town visitors to Batch. Sam, Rob and I also bonded over hoppy beer, naturally.
A week!
On more than one occasion, I have told my friends and family that I am still waiting for Ashton Kutcher to jump out and tell me that I’m being “Punk’d”. I’ve really enjoyed getting to know everyone on this small and mighty team, and I can’t believe I get paid to hang out with my new best friends.
I am really looking forward to changing the lives of those who receive gifts we create; I am also thrilled to be working in a safe, supportive and welcoming environment with like-minded, hard-working people.
I received so many incredible gifts in my Welcome Batch! Some of my favorites so far are the Chedz (I LOVE anything cheese flavored) and the delicious Loveless Cafe Sweet Potato Butter! Zach graciously pointed me in the right direction when he suggested spreading it on a toasted cinnamon bagel (yum!). I have not yet used the Loveless Biscuit mix or the Soberdough Brew Bread Mix, but I am confident that they will be favorites, too. My final, and number one favorite item in my Batch is the Mutthead dog collar for my sweet pittie boy. Porter lost his best friend and big sister, Ginger, on the day of my interview with Batch, so it is extra special to me that my new coworkers are making him (and me) feel seen.
I created my first Batch for a dear friend of mine here in Nashville. I included many special items that I hand-picked for her, such as Lil’ Goos, Bongo Java Whole Bean Coffee and Soberdough Brew Bread Mix. I also included some special items for her house (since it always smells so good) such as lavender Thistle Farms lotion and a Gold & Ivy vanilla scented candle.
I love to travel and visit new breweries with my wife, Abby. We spent the last two years breaking our camper in and taking in lots of nature with our dogs, which was very special. I am also training for a handful of triathlons and the 2022 Chicago Marathon. I plan to do my first Half Ironman within the next couple of years, too.
I’m eager to visit Denver again and learn more about their extensive brewery scene.
The short answer here is Brandi Carlile, but the even more honest answer is her talented, sassy, British wife, Catherine, because of the aforementioned qualities and all she does for those in need through The Looking Out Foundation. Abby and I spent this past weekend watching two Brandi shows, in between strikes of lightning, at Nashville’s outdoor Ascend Amphitheater, and it was worth every second.
I would pack up our little camper and visit as many beautiful waterfalls as I could, out west, with Abby and Porter. We would, of course, stop at a brewery for lunch.
A plan :)

Matthew Bretherick had years of experience working in retail before eventually starting his own small business, Mercantile 1858, a home décor and gift shop. With locations in Arrington and historic Franklin, Mercantile 1858 is nothing like a typical big-box home decor stores.
Make sure you follow @mercantile1858 for Matthew's Vintage Monday Picks and the latest product discoveries.
Read on to find out why Matthew started his own candle business, his tips for decorating your space, and what keeps him busy when not at the store.
Mercantile 1858 is a home decor and gift store. We specialize in handmade and vintage items.
Stay true to who you are!
Functional Vintage
Don’t buy anything to just “fill a space”! Love it or leave it!
The handmade goods in my shops really help us stand out. Pairing locally made goods with vintage, one of a kind pieces allows for a truly unique shopping experience!
I started 1858 Candle Co in the summer of 2020. I sold my first candle July 24th, 2020.
I try to always keep my shoppers in mind. I listen to what they want and ask what kind is scents they normally gravitate towards.
I have a passion for all living things. When I’m not in one of my shops, I’m probably gardening while my chickens free range. I also have four dogs (three of which are rescues) to love on and spoil!
The gifts vary depending on the recipient. I try to only buy from other small businesses. Gifting is my love language! I come by that honestly, my mom and aunt were amazing gift givers.
I started 1858 Candle Co. to be able to adopt one day, hopefully. I had ordered and carried candles in my shops for five years prior to becoming a chandler myself. My hope is that with becoming a maker, it might allow me to become a little more financially prepared to start the adoption process.
Shatiqua Jamerson (SJ) is the owner and maker of It's Plush! She is originally from Columbia, TN, but currently resides in Nashville. It's Plush! started almost 10 years ago as SJ was dealing with her own skin issues. She was teaching a girls STEM class on cosmetic chemistry and decided to see if she could use some of her science background coupled with information from her dermatologist to help herself. Now, It's Plush! has grown into a line of products and has introduced others to better, cleaner, less toxic products.
Make sure you follow @ITSPLUSHSKIN for her latest product launches and all things skincare.
Read on to find out why SJ started creating her own beauty care products, her favorite scent, and how she learned to let her community help her succeed.
It's Plush is a Natural Bodycare Business that focuses on non-toxic living by providing natural and non-toxic skin, bath and bodycare products as well as wellness initiatives. We have been in business for almost 7 years (8 years if you count the year before we registered the business).
I LOVE all things beauty but struggled to find brands that served me. After years of battling skin sensitivities and being let down by over-the-counter products, I embarked on a journey to create less toxic, natural skincare solutions that met my needs without compromising my wants. Health-conscious did not have to mean lacking plushness!
The journey was as organic as my products. Layer upon layer of personal experiences paved the way for It’s Plush. From managing the beauty care area of a major fashion and beauty company to teaching a course on cosmetic chemistry to having a background in public health and fitness - the sum total of these pieces yielded a brand that serves humanity by encouraging hope, healing and non-toxic living.
The best advice I received in the beginning and something I am reminded about frequently is to allow your community to help you. I tend to try and do everything myself, but as my business has grown I had to learn to take the advice of friends and family and ask for help. It took me a while to allow them to really be involved but I am so glad they are. They have helped me in so many ways from designing my booth setups for large events and store booths, staffing markets, to packaging and labeling products. My community is a major reason why I have been so successful.
This is going to sound bad but - ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!! My husband and I stay on the go so much that when I get a chance to just veg out on the couch and watch TV I jump on it.
Remember that everything doesn't work for everybody. When looking for a regimen read the instructions and give the product(s) time to work. Also, seek advice from a professional and keep trying until you find good products. Rome wasn't built in a day and neither are good skincare habits so find a regimen that works for you and then be consistent.
My favorite part of creating new products is thinking about how much the product can improve someone's quality of life. For example, our herbal bath teas look and smell amazing but each one serves a purpose from nourishing and detoxing the skin to relaxing and reducing inflammation in your muscles.
All of our products are handmade, small-batch and formulated in Nashville, Tennessee by a black female. Beyond that, I truly believe believe in our mission - to serve Love and Life, naturally. We don't just exist to sell bath and body products, we exist to push people towards wellness/wholeness and we do that through providing quality products and wellness focused events.
I love the maker community in Nashville! It's hard to narrow it down but here are a few - Nashville Craft Beverage (Juice Spot), Ash from Nash and Sammi Jean Clay (earrings), Oily Mantra and Match Made (Candles), Vine and Branch Collective (Plants) Bite Club Baked Goods and Chambray Apron (Baked Goods), It's Flavourful (Salt-Free Seasonings) and Leather and Cord (leather goods). These are just a few that I support. They make great stuff and the customer service is amazing.
I am a scent junkie and my favorite scents are sweet and musky. If I could only choose one scent I would go with our new artisan perfume, "Bloom." Bloom is a mixture of Mandarin and Jasmine Essential Oils. It's sweet, citrusy and light enough to not overwhelm anyone.
I try to pay attention the people around me and take note of their favorites so that I can try to give them gifts that they might actually like and enjoy but when in doubt candy/treat bags and candles are always a winner.
April is our birthday/anniversary month and we will be releasing a new line of soaps, scrubs and other Spring/Summer items throughout the month.
As Batch continues to grow from a scrappy small business to a strong small business, we get the opportunity to bring talented people on board to help with more customers, more products, and more everything. We are so happy to introduce Erin Goode, our gift consultant, to our customers and small business family. She is here to help Batch corporate gift customers create custom gifts based on any theme or budget and bring more custom gift projects to our growing operations team (know any folks that want to work with us?).
We learned a lot about her from this latest installment in our Meet the Team Series, and we can't wait to share it with you.
I’m Batch’s new gift consultant! I get to help sell all the amazing products and services to our awesome customers.
I was born and raised in Queens, New York where I still currently reside (although I dream of living in Nashville daily).
I’ve been working at Batch for a little over a month.
I love it! It’s been so exciting learning the ropes, building relationships with all our customers and getting to know my rockstar co-workers!
Doing meaningful work that allows me to be creative and help people at the same time! It was super important for me to find a company that had strong core values and does their part to give back to the community. Batch surpassed anything I could have hoped to find and I can’t wait to be a part of all of the special things Batch will do!
I was blown away by my first Batch box! From the sweetness of the caramel flavored Kernels Nashville Popcorn, to the salty of The Good Crisp Sea Salt and Vinegar potato chips, my tastebuds were SO happy! And who could forget The Shortbread Shop brown sugar cookies, let’s just say they did not last more than 2 days…
Chocolate! I’m a hardcore chocolate lover, a chocoholic if you will. Batch has so many delicious chocolate options from Colts Bolt peanut buttery goodness, to a MAST chocolate bar with sea salt, to a TEMPERED chocolate bar with…pretzels!? The chocolate possibilities are endless here at Batch!
During the pandemic I picked up golf and it has become a huge passion of mine. I also recently started my own side hustle business making spackle art, Spackle & Gloss! Gift consultant by day, spackle artist by night! (cue sparkly sound effect)
AH! Can I say road trip!? I love traveling to new cities and seeing what each one has to offer.
Brother’s Osborne! I love their sound and their lyrics are always so beautiful. My fiancé and I chose “Pushing Up Daisies” for our wedding song :)
Head upstate NY to hike Mount Beacon and grab a bite to eat at one of my favorite restaurants!
My two little guinea pigs, Presley & Polly and my fiancés family dog, Murphy; those three have my heart.

Covid-19 can still cause concern for some attendees. Due to this many companies have offered hybrid or completely virtual options. Whether you are hosting a virtual or in-person event, there are plenty of opportunities to level-up your event marketing with swag incentives. Swag doesn’t have to be boring.
Are you looking to impress clients and attendees? Consider a holistic approach. Share gifts not only during an event but before and after as well. Why? It’s a more well-rounded strategy that will allow you to personalize and cater to your clientele. Consider these swag strategies below for your next event.
In the current market, you may need to boost your marketing when it comes to registration. Incentives are a great place to start. There are a few things to keep in mind, such as the goal of the event, the type of audience you plan to attract, and their interests.
For example, if you were looking to host a conference dedicated to sustainable practices in the coffee agriculture business. Members of your audience might have a high level of experience with coffee (and enjoy it!) and are looking for more resources and education on the industry. To incentivize registration, offer a branded mug and send it straight to their door to get them prepped for the event. To personalize it more, you can give them up to three swag options at checkout to select an item that best suits their lifestyle.
Hosting virtually? If so, this is a great time to send a box full of goods to help them power through the event. Let them know this before registration to encourage them to join the event.
Alright, you’ve got folks in the door. Now what? Swag bags (or boxes) are always fun, but if you go down this road be sure the items included are meaningful. No one likes to collect junk! In the scenario mentioned above, a great idea might be to include a branded bag of coffee beans paired with a coffee-inspired tea towel. At Batch, we can customize any bag or box to suit your event needs.
If you want to be sure people are getting the most out of an event, you can create swag rewards too! It could be as simple as giving out a punch card to attendees and giving them a number of booths or speakers to view to receive a special prize. It’s a fun way to get people involved and share a more premium gift experience.
They have come and gone. Now what? Keep them engaged by sharing additional swag or resources from the event. Remember, you want them to share their great experience with others so keep it coming! Send a downloadable resource list or incentive to ask for a review of the event. It can be a small token of appreciation like branded chocolates. It will serve as a reminder of the event while giving you direct feedback for the next event.
Make your next event more memorable than ever. Keep these strategies in mind for your next in-person, hybrid, or virtual event. Find ways to connect it to your audience and it’ll make for a more personal experience. We are here to help you create an unforgettable swag experience.
]]>Over the years, the focus on the “day” evolved to include month-long events in many major cities. Here in Nashville, you can find a variety of events to celebrate pride month. What if you’re not into the parade scene or want to show your support from a business perspective? We have the answer!
Support the LGBT community by directly purchasing their goods and sharing gifts. We’ve lined up some of our favorite makers below.
Jonathan has been a part of the chocolate-making business since he was 15 years old. Thanks to growing up in the food and wine business, he honed his palate. He has a passion for taste testing and selecting only the best cocoa to create perfectly balanced chocolate.
His Drive In Movie Milk Chocolate Bar is included in our Batch Pride Gift Set. Plus, a variety of other goods that support the LGBT community like Pride Socks, a Mercantile 1858 Candle, and Pride Lip Balm.
Chef Eleni Vavouris grew up in a large Greek family where she learned from relatives the importance of cooking. Her love of food grew so much that while working on her master’s degree studying Family Counseling, she decided to shift her focus to culinary school.
After launching a successful catering company, EV Originals followed as a way to offer her clients a taste of her food outside of catering. Share one of these delicious salsas by giving the Bourbon Gift Set.
Matthew has a long line of experience working in retail. He worked as an Area Sales Manager for Shi by Journeys before eventually starting his own small business, Mercantile 1858, a home décor and gift shop.
Matthew has a keen eye for selecting only the best vintage, new, and locally made goods. The flagship location is in Arrington, TN. He expanded and opened a second shop in Franklin, TN.
A Cocoa + Mint Mercantile 1858 Candle is included in the Mint To Be Gift Set. Don’t miss this set that is packed with a Hydra Shower Steam Burst (another LGBT+ maker), Little Seed Farm Rosemary Soap, and more.
Ready to start showing your support? Share these gifts with your clients and employees before it’s too late. If you’re looking for customization, feel free to find us here. Happy Pride Month!]]>Employee onboarding will set the tone and lay a foundation for your new hire. It will help your new hire get acquainted with your company and hopefully inspire them. The goal is to lead to engaged and highly productive employees in the long term. The Aberdeen Group reported that 62% of companies with programs had higher time-to-productivity ratios.
You might be thinking, how long should this program last? Some might say never, although it’s typical for this process to be in the framework of 30 days, 60 days, or even 90 days.
Next up, it’s key to determine who will be the responsible party for the new hire’s program. Will it be human resources or the hiring manager? Maybe both. We might suggest the manager play a primary role to ensure relevancy and the opportunity to create a connection. In remote settings, it’s even more important to create opportunities for connecting. That’s why we are sharing 7-steps to a perfect employee onboarding process.
Nothing says we are excited to welcome you like a gift sent straight to their door. It doesn’t have to be too complicated. It can be light and fun similar to these Good For The Souls Snacks or Remote Work Pack gift boxes. Also, if this is a remote position it can create an opportunity to send necessary equipment such as packing company swag, snacks, and their laptop in a killer backpack.
We get it. You need forms filled out but don’t forget about the fun stuff too! Share your company story and culture. Also, provide them a clear picture of what to expect on their first day or week. It will avoid surprises.
Whether you have an on-site, hybrid, or remote working model there are creative ways to approach this concept. It can include branded items that will help them day-to-day or be geared towards a lunch out with the team. Who doesn’t love free lunch? Better yet, throw a gift card in an awesome branded gift box. Consider a digital gift card for remote workers and set up a team lunch hour. It will create an opportunity for personal connection.
Spend time on the first day sharing your brand story. The more knowledge employees have, the better they will be able to serve your organization in the end. It can include the why behind your company culture as well. Some things may not be as obvious as you think. Lastly, don’t forget to talk about where your company is going and how they can make an impact long-term.
This concept goes back to what we mentioned earlier – an organized onboarding plan that will help with retention. A 30-60-90-day plan creates transparency and a roadmap of an employee’s journey with your company. The goal should be to make it a smooth transition for both of you.
This plan should include time for employees to get acquainted with your systems and platforms. Maybe they need to go through training or watch informational videos, whatever it may be. Keep in mind this isn’t solely focused on their ability to complete current projects. Consider offering a fun gift or experience upon completion of their 90 days to make it more interesting.
Inclusion and immersion are key to employee onboarding, especially for remote workers. Meet and greets can be easily set up in person or virtually. Consider inviting team members to meet with new hires that have progressed in their careers with the company as an opportunity to demonstrate growth potential.
You’ve probably already guessed why this is so important. On-site employees might have it a little easier, but that being said it can be easily overlooked. Don’t forget to celebrate personal and professional milestones with your team members, like birthdays, weddings, or hitting a team goal. It can be as simple as a monthly lunch to get folks away from their desks.
If your team is remote, it’s even more important to create these moments since they often don’t get the daily interactions of sharing a laugh or an impromptu chat with a co-worker. Creating a monthly ritual can be a great idea for remote workers. Be creative and keep your team’s interest in mind.
Employee onboarding doesn’t have to be boring. Of course, it should cover the practical side of starting a new role. Keep these strategies in mind when you are hiring. Share this list with human resources to inspire fresh ideas. We are here to help with any of your employee onboarding needs. ]]>Nearly 9 years ago, the idea for Batch was born. The idea at inception was relatively simple: ship four Nashville-made items to subscribers once a month. The goal? To grow, but ultimately stay small. We felt that if we worked hard we could eventually get up to 200 or so subscribers by our third month.
To say the rest is history would be glossing over the ups and downs, heartaches and happiness, and challenges and accomplishments we've faced over the last decade. While we're very much still a small business (which the SBA defines as any company with fewer than 500 employees), we're still growing and changing on this very meaningful journey.
And that's what happens when you shop at a small business: you're supporting someone's journey.
I know that because every vendor we work with has a story about that journey. Ours is full of stops and starts, city launches and closures, store openings and closings, product launches and sunsets. Hopefully, each one has allowed for a key learning moment that makes us stronger and better poised to travel well as we march forward on our journey.
Our vendors' journeys are of those who take family recipes and build a brand based on legacy. There are journeys of entrepreneurs searching for the perfect candle, sauce, soap, or caramel and not stopping until they've found it on their own kitchen or workshop table. Those journeys of quality and no compromise allow dreamers and schemers the chance to make the world just a tiny bit better.
But for nearly every small business owner, the journey doesn't end with a finished product primed for your enjoyment. The journey continues as they grow ever bigger and hire their first employee (small businesses account for two-third of all new jobs created in the US).
Or, as they sign that first lease or finally get that piece of equipment that makes them more successful.
Then there's the journey toward that first BIG order, that first media mention, that first brand recognition.
Beneath the parts of the journey we usually measure in dollars and cents, traffic and ROI, are the elements that outlast any business: family, community, legacy, meaning, and impact.
When you shop at a small business, you're supporting an owner's children getting to go to school or invest in their own dream. You're providing healthcare and security for people who don't have the safety net of a large corporation. You're making a statement, confirming the vision of a founder who believes they can help save the planet, protect a species, feed others who are vulnerable, or create meaningful work.
Big businesses can do all that, too, but usually only once they've gotten so big that they need to establish a committee or initiative to focus in on supporting small businesses (which we - ahem - love to help with). But the beauty of small businesses is that such meaning and impact is baked into the DNA and modus operandi of the company itself.
Spend $1, make an impact.
During this Small Business Week, I hope you continue to support small businesses wherever you are. Whether you work one in to your daily routine or go out of your way to be deliberate in how you spend your money this week, remember that a shift in your spend can create the next big idea. If you need an even more handy reminder, be sure to sign up for our Small Business Pledge so you can unleash the superhero we all know is inside.
]]>A Louisiana native, Megan Hebert’s upbringing has always been connected to the heart of New Orleans. Inspired by her grandfather, her creativity stems from the city’s vibrant culture, tremendous oak trees and diverse architecture. We loved her painting of the St. Louis Cathedral so much that we created several products featuring it.
Megan specializes in painting home portraits for those needing a piece of New Orleans to take with them on a new journey, for couples wanting to capture life’s events both big and small, and for those who are simply holding on to a cherished memory. From crawling tree limbs to multi-colored brackets to asymmetrical porch columns, her paintings are uniquely twisted while focusing on intricate details.
Make sure you follow @meganhebert_art for her latest work and NOLA adventures.
Read on to find out when Megan started painting, her description of New Orleans, and her scary and satisfying small-business journey.
I started playing around with painting when I was a child. It was always a fun activity to do with my family or friends. I really picked it up as a hobby when I moved to New Orleans in 2012.
New Orleans is one of the most expressive, creative cities in the world. A city with a culture so rich and deeply rooted, she makes you feel at home. Like you're a kid again, sitting in your grandma's kitchen watching the screen door sway back and forth, while waiting on your favorite meal. It just feels right to be here. The yearly calendar of festivities offers a life style of constant celebration. Because that's what life should be right? Celebrated. I found my true self in New Orleans and I feel many others do too. You can be your most authentic self and be 100% accepted for it. There's a New Orleans for everyone and if you love her, she'll love you back. You may need a break from time to time, but she's always here to welcome you back with open arms, music, and an amazing meal that feeds your soul.
My Grandpa was the most talented person I've ever known. You name it and he could sketch, paint, carve, build, sculpt, create it with his bare hands. If my Grams wanted a table for the gazebo, then there's grandpa in his shed, creating her a beautiful table. Artistry came so natural to him and he loved every second of it. He would tell me stories of him painting portraits of people in Jackson Square when he was a child. He had a side hustle once where he painted New Orleans sceneries on the inside lining of wooden purses that were once sold at the old DH Holmes. Although he was a WWII Veteran and later a career man, he always incorporated his talent where he could and I admired that. Because of him, I always fantasized about living in New Orleans, on St. Charles Ave. and becoming an artist. He opened my eyes to the world of painting when I was a child and always inspired me to explore and share my talent. During high school, I realized I had potential to grow and once he died, I bought my first canvas and paint kit. It's been a long and slow journey but Grandpas always know best!
This one is hard... I get carried away painting details for hours. My main clientele is home portraits and several of my painting requests are of childhood homes, a home they just sold or a home that was destroyed in Katrina. I love to incorporate their favorite memories such as a dog on the porch, a cat that was always in the window... maybe a sign that was in their yard or their favorite rocking chair...the lists of requests goes on. I've found that my clients are more blown away by the little details I include. So I guess to answer this question, I just paint until I can't look at it anymore. That usually means there are enough details to make the painting complete.
I started painting as a side hustle in 2017. I would just paint little 5x7 quirky New Orleans homes that people would order around Christmas time. That grew a little each year and in 2019, I painted my first commission piece/home portrait. Once I shared that, I realized there's a market for this. People love to have their home painted! I then continued to paint home portraits as a side hustle and it wasn't until 2020 when I got laid off that I decided to paint full time.
The transition was scary. Before Covid, I worked for a company as an Event Planner where everything was structured with deadlines and I had to hold myself accountable for completing tasks usually within a 24-48 hour turnaround. I worked in hospitality for 10 years and if you know anything about the culture of that industry, whatever you were working on, the client needed it yesterday. Transitioning to working for myself and the influx of business I received once I went full time, I struggled with shifting my mentality from the quick turnaround expectations to now the artist world. I would receive several orders at a time and automatically felt I had to finish them all by Friday. Most artists are a one person show that handle all aspects of growing their business (marketing, client communication, branding, shipping, printings etc.) It's been a bit overwhelming but I hate to complain. I'm doing what I love and making a living out of it which is something I never thought was possible!
After being laid off, I had to move out of my apartment which I designed to be my art studio. It's a two-story loft apartment with a balcony overlooking Magazine St. and offers such a beautiful, inspiring space to create. After about a year and a half of working out of a few small spaces for free, my old apartment became available again and I got it back! It was scary to think about taking on bills again when I didn't have a steady cash flow like I'm used to. But I said ""screw it, let's do it. Let's make this real." I needed to exceed my comfort zone and put myself in a position to be pushed to grow and ""figure it out." It was the smartest decision I made not only for my business but myself!
I love painting trees and I'm slowly starting to play around with abstract painting. It's what I turn to when I need to feel calm. It's therapeutic to just paint without trying to perfect a specific object. Allowing the paint and brush to almost guide me is fun and I plan to take some classes and see where that goes.
Oh gosh, I hate this question. Go to Jazz Fest and eat it all.
2 things I love most. Being in the sun on the water. And DANCING!

]]>Today many consumers expect more from a brand than simply a product. They are looking for brands that are authentic, sustainable, and responsible in all of their actions. According to a Havas Media Group study, there has been a 10-point lift from 2019, stating that 64% of consumers prefer to buy from a brand with a purpose. More than half are willing to go further and pay more for a brand that takes a stand, up to 53% of people.
Not only do brands need to serve functionality and personal desires, but they need to have a meaningful impact on the environment, people, or community. It even applies to people choosing a company for employment. Six in ten employees are more likely to research what their company is doing to be responsible.
Consumers are also skeptical about whether a brand will deliver on its claims. It’s important to be mindful and carry social initiatives throughout an organization while being realistic.
For example, Pepsi pulled an ad starring Kendall Jenner after 24 hours due to poor social responsibility. It was based on the concept of giving a police officer a soda which would in turn ease police brutality. Many felt it was tone-deaf and simply passing a soda to a police officer was not solving the issue. Consumers were looking for more to be done if this was an attempt at getting involved.
A better example might be when Verizon partnered with Makers, a media brand focused on equity in the workplace. The “Inspire Her Mind” ad was to inspire more girls to STEM fields. It included facts and created a narrative around how girls can be easily dissuaded. By partnering with the right organization, the ad came across as genuine and brought awareness to a relevant issue.
Another great example is TOMS. One of the first brands to spearhead the concept of buy one, give one. They garnered huge success in their early days and have impacted over 100 million lives through shoes and other resources.
When it comes time to celebrate milestones, holidays, or even reach new clients, gifting with a purpose can be a great way to show your company values. Consumers and employees are taking note of your social responsibility efforts. Show them what you are made of!
One example could be honoring and supporting pride month in June with a Pride Gift Set. Many of the items are owned by or support LGBTQ+. Another example could be sharing the Make An Impact gift set. This gift covers a variety of social concerns, including donating to shelters, special needs, and empowering women. Want to make more of an impact? Add a donation to any of these causes to take the gift to the next level.
Does this feel overwhelming? We are here to help and can find the perfect gift to make an impact with your team or clientele. Gifts that give back are important to us as well. That’s why we are giving back a portion of each sale to Make-A-Wish Middle Tennessee. ]]>
