Gifting with Pride: Special Edition Pride Boxes
June is Pride Month and Nashville always shows up in a big way. This month is particularly important to the LGBTQIA+ community and allies because it marks the anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion in New York City on June 28, 1969, which most consider the beginning of the modern LGBT movement. While June 2020 looks a bit different from years past, Nashville is still celebrating in every way we can with #PrideAtHome to show our support of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Batch has partnered with the Nashville Scene, the LGBT Chamber of Commerce, and Good Neighbor Festivals, the annual Nashville Pride Festival event organizer, to create three special-edition Pride Gift Batches to help you enjoy Pride At Home this year.
Ten percent of every Pride Box purchase will go directly to supporting the Nashville Pride organization.
Batch and the Nashville Scene first forged a relationship in March through the Relief Boxes benefiting the United Way COVID-19 Response Fund.
When the June Pride Festival was postponed, Mike Smith, publisher of the Scene, called us up to create another partnership. “We knew that Nashville Pride was going to be different this year with not having the larger festival in June, but that our reader would still want to celebrate, so we thought that the Pride Boxes would be a great way to help our reader celebrate Pride while also supporting local LGBT-owned and operated businesses. Partnering with the Nashville LGBT Chamber and helping support Nashville Pride financially was an ideal way to connect the dots and keep the celebratory spirit of Pride in Nashville, while also staying safe. Equity and inclusion has been a driver for the Scene editorial since its inception in 1989, and it matters to our readers—they care deeply about this topic. LGBT pride and equality is just in our DNA.”
Jack Davis of Good Neighbor Festivals agreed that the partnership was a natural fit. “Nashville Pride has a long standing relationship with the Nashville Scene and the Nashville LGBT Chamber of Commerce. We loved the idea to focus on pride month and support a number of small locally owned businesses at the same time.”
Mike added, “I love how the idea of these Pride Boxes came together so quickly and effortlessly. Nashville is known for our collaborative business environment and this was no different—I made a few calls, and we coalesced around an idea that could help everyone. That's pretty special.”
